Could be the H/Unit illumination wire in the wrong place in the connector ! Something to do with the adaptor/re-wire...

Agreed, also if they have just been "leccy tapied" together, pleas solider them properly, one you will be amazed of the sound difference, two it wont catch fire.

buy a iso lead cheap of ebay saves messing about with the wires.

Still trying to sort the radio, where does the white wire from the ariel amp connect to on the radio? does it supply power to the amp? or does it do something else?? also there is a plain yellow wire, what is that for as I cant seem to find it on the wiring diagram.

Does it have a solid-red wire AND a red-white wire?
